The 2021 Southwest Nine States will be conducted as an Open Nonqualifying competition in accordance with the rules and regulations of U.S. Figure Skating, as set forth in the current rulebook, as well as any pertinent updates posted on the U.S. Figure Skating website.
This competition is open to all eligible, restricted, reinstated or readmitted persons as defined by the Eligibility Rules, and who are a currently registered member of a U.S. Figure Skating member club, a collegiate club or an individual member in accordance with the current rulebook. Please refer to the current rulebook for non U.S. Citizens.
COMPETITION ENTRY - EMS REGISTRATION: Registration Deadline: 09/01/2021 at 11:59pm ET.
Entries will be limited, so register early. Entries are accepted via EMS with credit card only. Each transaction is subject to a 3% credit card fee.

3. Click the blue EMS button then “Competition Registration”
4. Choose “Southwest Nine States” from the list of competitions.

Entries must be paid with a successful credit card transaction to be considered valid and must be completed by September 1, 2021 11:59pm ET.
There will be NO LATE REGISTRATION allowed for this event.
Non-U.S. skaters intending to register for this competition must set up a non-member account prior to registering for the competition. This can be done by choosing the “Non-Member? Create Account” option on the Members Only login page.
Entry fees will not be refunded after the deadline date, unless no competition exists or the event is canceled. There will be no refunds for medical withdrawals. The online processing fees are not refundable. Checks returned for non-sufficient funds and contested credit card charges will be issued a $35 fee. Payment of the fee will be required before the skater is allowed to participate in practice ice or events.
There will be a $35 fee for each change of event or level after the entry deadline date.
Full refunds, minus the online processing fee, are available if withdrawal is prior to the entry deadline.
Competitors may be scheduled on any day or time for the announced dates of the competition. Skaters are required to arrive on-site 45 minutes before their scheduled competition and 15 minutes before scheduled practice. Events may run up to 15 minutes ahead of printed schedules. The competition and practice ice schedules will be available after the close of entries.
Allen Event Center & Community Ice Rink is located in Allen, Texas, at 200 East Stacy Road, Allen, TX 75002. Both ice surfaces are 200’ x 85’ with rounded corners.
U.S. Figure Skating, Dallas Figure Skating Club, and Allen Event Center & Community Ice Rink accept no responsibility for injury or damage sustained by any participant in this competition. This is in accordance with Rule 1600 of the official U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook.
Planned Program Content (PPC):
Events judged with the International Judging System (IJS) require the submission of the Planned Program Content (PPC) form. Competitors participating in IJS events are required to submit their PPC in EMS no later than September 30, 2021 11:59pm ET. After this date, skaters will be locked out of this feature in EMS and subject to a $20 late fee. The late fee will automatically be added to each skater's cart who doesn't meet this requirement by the deadline. Late fees will not be removed under any circumstances and must be paid prior to receiving the skater credential onsite.

Online music submission is the ONLY acceptable method to submit program music. All competition music must be electronically submitted via the EMS Skater Portal through the Music & Program Content tab no later than the date noted in EMS ($35 administrative fee will apply).

Interruption in Music
U.S. Figure Skating Rule 1403 If, after the competitor/team’s name has been called to compete, there is an issue with the downloaded music or CD provided at the event, the competitor will have up to 3 minutes to rectify the situation with a backup copy of the music on CD. After 3 minutes, the competitor/team will be considered withdrawn.
Administrative Fee for Incorrect Music or Failure to Upload Music:
The LOC may assess each competitor/team an additional charge, up to $35.00 per event segment, to manually handle a team’s music, if the competitor/team: 1) fails to submit their music prior to the close of online music submission, 2) submits files that do not follow the specifications above, or 3) uploads the incorrect music for a given event segment (e.g. uploads short program music instead of the free skate). In the event the LOC decides to assess an administrative fee, the competitor/teams will not receive their credentials at registration until they pay the fee and turn in their music on CD, conforming to the requirements above.
Practice Ice is not included with Events Registration fee for this competition. Practice Ice will be divided by level and type. Skaters will be able to purchase sessions appropriate for their entered events. Practice ice credit may be pre-purchased online thru EMS after entry at the discounted price of $18 per session until 9/1/21.
There are 3 types of practice sessions available for pre-purchase —
OPI (Official Practice Ice) assigned time where music is tested/played/rehearsed
UPI (Unofficial Practice Ice) extra practice at times selected by skater - no music played
WU (WarmUp Practice Ice) assigned per group on event day before competition - no music
Only skaters pre-purchasing OPI credit are guaranteed to have time scheduled to hear and practice their program on OPI (Official Practice Ice). OPI will be assigned beginning on Wednesday, October 13th. Plan your travel time to attend official practice day. Skaters are strongly encouraged to attend OPI and take this opportunity to listen and check that uploaded music plays correctly at this session. Skaters with pre-paid UPI credits will have the first choice to select practice times before open sales. Practice ice is non-refundable and may not be sold to other skaters. After the schedule is released and those with credits have had selection time, all available spots will be sold online thru EMS. During the event, any remaining practice will be sold for $20 per session online or in person at competition desk until filled. Only uploaded music will be played on OPI practice sessions. No CDs, phones, etc., will be accepted even if there is a problem with the uploaded music. Please verify all uploaded music BEFORE the Music upload deadline.
